Software Asset Management 2.0

It seems WEB 2.0 has reached the world of Software Asset Management. On-demand IT Asset Management provider SAManage has announced a free version of their online application with additional premium features at additional cost.

Software Asset Management 2.0

Organizations can benefit from free PC and software inventory by downloading an agent from the SAManage website and managing their IT assets via the internet.

The ‘Premium Plan’ costs $20 per year per PC and includes a contract repository, risk assessment of illegal software, security gaps, or missing patches and unlimited administrators.

This is an ideal starting point for companies looking to take their first steps in software asset management and gaining control of their IT assets.

Services delivered via the internet are becoming increasingly popular as companies can deliver applications without hardware, infrastructure or implementation. The only limitation as I see it, data security concerns aside, is that companies might want to make use of the inventory data collected within other systems and this is traditionally not available via a web service. However SAManage’s recent Salesforce.com integration demonstrates that integration is possible.

The SAManage SaaS service is available immediately from www.SAManage.com
