Who’s Got The Ball On Your SAM Project?
Some good points are raised in this software compliance webinar from BDNA and Forrester.
Evelyn Hubbert from Forrester explains the “We know what we have syndrome” – an explanation why SAM adoption is slow in some organisations.
Anyone who has tried to sell or evangelize SAM as a concept will be familiar with this head-in-sand attitude.
Who’s Got The Ball?
Evelyn also explains the importance of assigning accountability and responsibility in SAM systems via a RACI chart (Who is responsible? who is accountable? Who needs to be consulted? and who needs to be informed).
I think this is an important point when implementing SAM systems, I know it would certainly focus my mind if I knew I was accountable for software compliance risk in a company.
I also liked this quote from a BDNA customer:
“If you know the facts, you are in a position to save money”,
Mark Day, CTO, US Environmental Protection Agency.
