Fake LicenceDashboard Testimonial

I recently received the following spammy comment on The ITAM Review:

“…We are a graphic design company and use software like Photoshop. We’ve found that Licence Dashboard means we never forget to renew our licences! We once managed to completely forget and ended up being faced with a huge fine, so it’s good to hand over the responsibility to a piece of software! It’s really easy to use tool. Here’s their product page: http://www.licencedashboard.co.uk/products.htm”

Why bother going to the trouble of collecting genuine testimonials from your customers when you can make them up!

If companies insist on dreaming up fake testimonials – I wish they would make an effort to make them look a bit more authentic. Three schoolboy errors occurred on this spammy comment:

  1. Why state ‘Graphic Design Company’ when your IP address says you are a search marketing company trying to drive internet traffic for your client?
  2. Making a comment using the email address Licence Dashboard Editor is a bit of a giveaway.
  3. However, the biggest tell-tale sign is that your testimonial reads like a soap powder advert. Anyone that has used a software asset management tool properly (even for 50 users) knows that you don’t ‘hand over responsibility’ to a piece of software.

C’mon guys – you can do better than this.

Craig, You’re far too kind. I would characterize this as intentional fraud! I ran this by a

Senior Manager of Adobe’s Volume Licensing and she told me that Adobe does not sell subscription licensing to corporate customers.
