Julia Veall, Vodafone UK – What I like about my ITAM role

In order to encourage more people into ITAM roles, I think it’s important to share what people love about their ITAM careers. Thanks to Julia Veall from Vodafone UK for stepping up and sharing her views.

Last month we reported that the skills shortage in the ITAM industry has worsened (See our 2019 salary and skills survey results here). So it’s more important than ever to evangelise about an ITAM career.

I recorded the video below at our Wisdom UK conference at Twickenham Rugby Stadium in early June.

When asked how Julia would describe her role to someone outside the IT industry she said:

“I’m a trusted advisor to my organisation, I know where their assets are whether that’s hardware or software assets and I know how much things cost. I know who is using them and I can help them make business decisions”

The most common feedback I hear about the ITAM role is a that “every day is different” and the role has broad access to many areas of the business. This is echoed by Julia who says her role allows her to work across security, procurement, finance, HR at Vodafone and enables a deeper understanding of how the business works. Thanks again to Julia for sharing her views.
