Half of ITAM departments are not tracking datacentre changes

Datacentre Changes – Staying one step ahead
During the module we asked those on the call: Does your ITAM function have visibility of changes being made in the datacenter? This is typically in the form of the change management process. Does the ITAM function have visibility of changes?
As you can see from the table below, 51% are tracking changes in the datacenter, 49% are not or are not sure. There were slight differences between our module recording in the UK and USA time zones.
Why is tracking datacenter changes important? Significant costs and risks exist in the datacenter. If you don’t have visibility, you have to clean up mess afterwards. By working with changes as they arise, you can help the business avoid nasty costs and risks.

SW installed in datacenters is the most costly one, so just some small optimisation and smart allocation can give a high return.
And I guess is easier to track changes in a data center through standard change management procedures than doing the same for workplace devices.
So there is a long journey in front of us!!
