Luke Whittaker, Tokio Marine Kiln – Inserting the ITAM brain into managing public cloud
Managing Public Cloud
Thank you to Luke Whittaker, License and Configuration Analyst at Tokio Marine Kiln for sharing his views on managing public cloud.
I recorded the video below at our Wisdom UK conference at Twickenham Rugby Stadium in early June 2019.
Luke describes the shift to a dual-cloud environment, movement away from on-premise servers and requirement to tag and label instances to manage cost.
Luke said,
“We need to cover all our bases in terms of usage and purpose. Putting a bit of “IT Asset Brain” into the cloud infrastructure team, so when we look back we can why it was set up, the project requirement and whether it was Test, BAU and so on.
We can then make those more strategic decisions in the future. Know what to scale up, know what to scale down, know whether we are growing or shrinking and fully take advantage of the elastic capability the cloud offers”
