Best Use of Tags 2011This is an advanced notice that TagVault.org and The ITAM Review will be running the ‘Best Use of Tags’ contest in early 2011.

The contest, now in its second year, aims to identify and recommend those SAM vendors who have clearly demonstrated the use of ISO/IEC 19770-2 tags in their technology.

Formal notices will be sent to software vendors in January. In the meantime please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions about the contest.

Volunteers Required

For this years contest we are looking for end-user organizations to join the judging panel and to offer interesting real-world scenarios for software identification issues. Any information provided about difficult to identify software will be kept strictly confidential.  Please contact me if you would like to participate (Tool providers will not be allowed to take part as a volunteer).

About TagVault

TagVault.org is the registration and certification authority for international standard ISO/IEC 19770-2 software identification tags (SWID tags).

Formed as a non-profit organization under IEEE-ISTO, TagVault.org provides a shared library of software tools and technical knowledge that decrease the costs involved in creating and managing software tags.

TagVault.org’s registration process ensures tags fully conform to the tagging standard while also ensuring normalized tag contents. TagVault.org also digitally signs tags, providing extra levels of software assurance for consumers.

About Martin Thompson

Martin is owner and founder of The ITAM Review, an online resource for worldwide ITAM professionals. The ITAM Review is best known for its weekly newsletter of all the latest industry updates, LISA training platform, Excellence Awards and conferences in UK, USA and Australia.

Martin is also the founder of ITAM Forum, a not-for-profit trade body for the ITAM industry created to raise the profile of the profession and bring an organisational certification to market.
