Introducing David Foxen
I am very pleased to welcome David Foxen to the team! David is joining us as ITAM Research Analyst and is our 5th employee!
Who is David?
David joins us from Arup where he was the Global Software Asset Manager. He has extensive knowledge of both SAM and software licensing.
In his own words:
Why do you love ITAM?
What’s not to love? It’s a big challenge to implement an ITAM Structure within an organisation, and there’s so many aspects to it. I love learning, and working out what went wrong and why, and also what went right and way. I love learning about licensing structures and how to get the most out of the licenses that you’ve got, rather than wasting money on purchasing more. Creating the initial processes, enforcing polices, communicating with IT Staff and providing education to members of the organisation is something I really enjoy. Make them feel a part of it, and they’ll make your life 100x easier!
I love the fact that ITAM is a living and breathing core business program. It’s always changing, and is a big part of an organizations structure. The new licensing models that are starting to come out means that ITAM/SAM will become even more important. That’s exciting!
Tell us one thing we don’t know about you
When I was younger I played a lot of Sunday League football. This one year we needed a draw to win the league, and we were losing 1-0 with 10 minutes to go. I had a hopeful shot from outside of the penalty box that went in! We won the league! The only good contribution I ever made to football!
What’s the craziest thing you’ve ever done?
Allowed a HR Director to install a 15 day trial of a piece of software. I removed it after a day…
To be honest I haven’t really done that much that you would call ‘crazy’. I’m going on holiday to Egypt with my girlfriend and two friends in June, so that could get a little crazy! Ask me after that!
What are you most excited about in joining ITAM Review
The fact that I will have the opportunity to learn from the best and most respected members of the ITAM Community. I want to learn as much as I can so that I have something of worth to give back to the community and people in general regarding ITAM-related topics. It’s also a great opportunity for me to network with fellow ITAM Geeks and bounce ideas and opinions off each other. Another aspect I’m really excited about are the ITAM Review’s future plans!
Connect with David on Twitter or LinkedIn. Come and see David at the Service Desk and IT Support Show (London), BCS Configuration Management (York) and/or IAITAM Europe (Budapest).
If you are an ITAM vendor and would like to provide David with a briefing of your tool, please contact him directly.
Please join me in welcoming David to the team.
