Information sharing around Oracle risks and other key datacentre vendors will continue in 2015

Dear ITAM Review Comrades,

A Happy New Year to you and all the best for 2015.

This is a quick progress report from the Campaign for Clear Licensing:

  • Thank you to everyone that contributed towards our Oracle research through 2014, we published a white paper on the key risks in managing Oracle licensing thanks to your help. Find it here.
  • Our Oracle Seminar in November was a busy and well-attended event. A list of proactive recommendations for Oracle was compiled following our interactive session with delegates. See the recommendations on The ITAM Review here.
  • We’ve written an open letter to Larry Ellison and the board of directors at Oracle. The stock market is clearly impressed with their cloud growth, but Oracle in the cloud only represents 5% of their revenue. Oracle will need to address the mistrust and poor communication identified in our research in 2014 if it is to keep up with cloud rivals. Hostility around contracts and sloppy communications is not conducive to putting your lifeblood on other people’s computers. See the open letter here.
  • We have also written a direct note to Oracle LMS requesting a formal response to our recommendations and action plan for making progress. We’ve tried our best to keep things positive and constructive, let’s hope Oracle grasp the nettle. Whether we get positive steps or radio silence – I’ll keep you posted.
  • Our Oracle Seminar in London was a great success and will be repeated in New York on the 29th January. See the event listing here or register here.
  • A roundtable session is planned for the 2nd February on SAP and IBM licensing in central London. An invite will follow shortly to CCL newsletter subscribers. We will also be hosting further events in London, Frankfurt and New York through 2015.
  • Our 2015 priority is to retain focus on Oracle and explore research, information sharing opportunities and events around SAP, IBM and Microsoft.

Thank you for your continued support and interest in the Campaign – if you have any questions please shout.

Thanks, Martin
