Call for participants: Enterprise SAM Tools Review

Who is the current market leader for SAM tools for large enterprises?

Who is the current market leader for SAM tools for large enterprises?

This is a call for tool manufacturers to participate in our independent assessment of the Enterprise SAM tools market.

We are well overdue a market-wide comparison of SAM tools.

We last did a comprehensive comparison of SAM tools in 2011. See ‘Market Synopsis for Enterprise SAM Tools 2011‘.

In comparison to our recent reviews of specific tools or specific use cases – This review is a broad competitive comparison of market leading Software Asset Management (SAM) tools for large enterprises.

Our goal is an independent review and comparison of the market leaders, identify key competitive differentiators between tools and see where the market is heading.

  1. Janet C says:

Martin, consider adding (deep breath) SCCM to the list. Nope, not an ITAM/SAM centric tool, yet lauded as such by many orgs. Speaking from sad experience.

  2. I don’t agree. SCCM is not a SAM tool.

  3. Andy says:

Hello Martin , Can you consider BMC Remedy to participate in the SAM tool Review

  4. Andy,

No BMC remedy is not a SAM tool, and certainly not suitable for large enterprises. This is reflected in their strategic relationships and integrations with the tools that ARE included above.

Very happy to be shown / discussed otherwise.

  5. Jill says:

    Martin,

I have to agree with Janet – even though SCCM is NOT a SAM tool by any means, having that statement verified by an independent assessment could assist those of us who are shackled to it as the “tool of choice” by decision makers who are stuck in the mindset of “We have it, we paid for it, someone once told me that this should be able to function as a SAM tool so by golly we are going to use it as such!”

I hope that next year SCCM will be considered for the study BECAUSE it will fall short as a SAM tool. I have been pleading with my company for a tool to assist in our SAM initiatives and the circle always comes back to “Why not SCCM?” Having an unbiased report demonstrating all of the areas where SCCM falls short would be invaluable.

  6. Jill, good point, well made. I’ll put it on the to do list!

  7. Sue says:

    Hi Martin
Any update on when this assessment will be available? Just got the June newsletter and didn’t see an update.

  8. Hi Sue, sorry for the delay. The review is so close that I’ve had to issue another questionnaire with competitive differentiators to be able to decide a winner.
    Martin
