Robert Scott, Scott & Scott LLP
Robert will present at the US conference on day two which will focus on Audit Defence.

He has defended over 225 software audit matters initiated by software piracy trade groups such as the BSA and SIIA. He is counsel to some of the world’s largest corporations on information technology matters including intellectual property licensing, risk management, data privacy, and outsourcing.
In his session, ‘When Publishers Sue’, Rob will consider Use of declaratory judgment actions, venue rules for copyright cases, choice of law issues, calculation of damages under copyright laws, individual liability for copyright infringement, burden shifting in copyright cases, electronic discovery issues and mediation strategy.
Kylie Fowler, Founder & Principal Consultant – ITAM Intelligence
Attending the UK conference as an expert speaker, on day two, Kylie will present on Microsoft Audit Defence.
Kylie is the founder and principal consultant of ITAM Intelligence and has extensive experience creating responsive and compliant Software Asset Management frameworks.
Kylie began her career in IT support, IT procurement and asset analysis. From this strong knowledge and experience base Kylie then held a pivotal IT Asset Control role before establishing herself as a highly regarded independent Software Asset Manager. Most recently Kylie has supported organisations including Balfour Beatty Plc and Interserve Plc to leverage the benefits of IT asset management and achieve their business objectives.
Kylie is Convenor of the UK SAM Networking Group, a regular invited speaker at industry events and has published a number of thought leading articles.
In her session, Kylie will look at how large software vendors such as Microsoft, Autodesk and Oracle use an audit checklist to decide whom they should potentially target, but there is another checklist that you may not be familiar with. This checklist is one the sales people, not the compliance team; use to decide which of their clients might be ready to make a major software investment. They will start engaging at senior executive level within the business and then, depending on the response, they may kick off a software ‘review’ with the IT Department to identify software non-compliance.
Kylie will present a blended case study which brings together elements from several different compliance driven strategic software negotiations to draw out the key aspects of the process and explain the important role a software asset manager must play in helping build a business case that turns a potentially nasty compliance audit into a strategic software investment which will benefit the business for years to come.
