Wisdom Australia 2019 Speaker Spotlight: Amazon AWS and Microsoft licensing

This is the third “speaker spotlight” article for Wisdom Australia 2019 – a chance for you to see some of the wonderful speakers and sessions we’ve got in store for you this November in Melbourne.

If you’ve not yet registered, go and do it now – …then come back and read this article 😁

The third speaker I had a chat with was Caroline Sly, who’s now at Amazon AWS as an Engagement Manager in Optimisation & Licensing Assessments (OLA) for APAC .

Caroline Sly, Amazon AWS

What is your session called?

Licensing in the Cloud.

What is your session about?

Reducing licensing cost and minimising risk with Microsoft workloads in the cloud.

How did you get started in ITAM?

It was originally from responding a customer software asset management requirement whilst working for an LSP. From this requested the LSP then created a SAM division, and I went to a new role at a bank to manage their software assets.

How would you describe what your company does?

AWS is a secure cloud services platform, offering compute power, database storage, content delivery and other functionality to help businesses scale and grow. Our primary goals for our customers are to reduce spend, reduce risk and increase innovation.

What’s your favourite part of the job?

I love helping customers save money.

What topics should delegates ask you about in Melbourne?

Microsoft licensing & optimising Microsoft workloads when migrating to the cloud

What one thing would improve the ITAM industry?

A tool that requires minimal human touch.

What’s your favourite movie?

Probably the original Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.

I’m all about Microsoft licensing and the cloud, so I’m definitely looking forward to this session – and it’ll be great to see Caroline return to the conference, this time as a vendor rather than a customer!
