Wisdom Australia 2019 – a recap

November 2019 saw ITAM Review return to Australia and, although it was our third conference there, it had many firsts too:

  • Our first sold out conference
  • Our first conference in Melbourne
  • Our first Australian “Women in ITAM” session
  • Several wonderful first-time customer speakers

It also saw Melbourne equal its highest November temperature when it reached 40.9 degrees…but we were inside all day and totally missed it! This is becoming a bit of a theme – when we were in Sydney in 2018 it saw its wettest day since 1984, with a month of rain falling in little more than a couple of hours.

Training

As always, we ran our licensing training “pre-day” which went really well. I had a great bunch of people in my Microsoft session, all full of great questions, and it was a real pleasure to spend the day talking Microsoft with them all! We also ran an IBM session which went very well too.

Acquiring and keeping up to date with licensing knowledge is key for many in ITAM, and it can be difficult to find the resources and time to do so. It’s great to be able to help with this both online and in-person.

The conference

We had a fantastic agenda covering a great range of topics including:

  • Adobe audits
  • Quest audits
  • Engaging stakeholders
  • Microsoft cloud licensing
  • CMDB and cloud
  • Managing SaaS
  • A legal view on audits
  • IaaS cloud management
  • 3rd party support
  • Contract management

And more, along with brilliant real-world case studies from both Bank of New Zealand (BNZ) and National Australia Bank (NAB).

Our Industry Panel session featured:

And we had some really interesting discussions. We only had 30 minutes, I think we could have gone on for at least an hour – so many great questions and insights!

Thanks also to our sponsors Crayon, TMG, ServiceNow, Airtrack, Enterprise Licence Solutions, Group 10 Consulting, Certero, Livingstone, and Xcite Consulting, many of whom also presented well-received Solution Spotlight sessions on Day 1.

Feedback

It’s brilliant when we get positive feedback from attendees and I just want to share a few snippets here so, if you’ve not attended one our Wisdom events before, you can see what’s in store for you!

“Great event, with informative speakers”

“Lots of knowledge spread and as SAM is very niche it is great to talk to others about it. All sessions helped by validating what is happening or thoughts on managing in future”

“Being my first attendance exceeded my expectations and am looking forward to making it an annual Schedule for our SAM team.”

“This is an excellent Forum. Well organized and useful topics, good networking opportunities and useful vendor exhibits”

“It was awesome.  Can’t wait to come back next year!  Thank you so much team :)”

“Excellent conference made even better by the friendly attendees. Definitely found some great people to discuss ITAM with.”

Thank you

Thank you to everyone involved – attendees, speakers, sponsors, everyone here at ITAM Review, the venue, everyone who liked and shared on social media! It was a great event and we’re definitely looking forward to Wisdom Australia 2020 – where we’ll be returning to Sydney.
